Dear Officers and Members,

I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day Weekend. I know everyone is getting back into the swing of things and I wish you all a fantastic dance season.

I want to thank you for the trust you have shown by electing me as National President of this prestigious dance organization. The past four years on Advisory Board have been an exciting and rewarding experience. I am grateful for all I have gained through the Dance Masters of America; not only becoming a better educator, but also the wonderful friendships I have made along the way. I look forward to attending your chapter activities, or to help in any way I can, and to work with you for your continued growth.

The way we shape ourselves in the present is the way we mold our accomplishments for the years to come. For this reason, we must draw from our past and look to the future. Where we are today has not come about by accident – it has come about by previous officers and members who gave so freely of their time and talents. I also realize that to continue to grow as a vibrant organization we must utilize the creativity and energy of all our members. I will be calling on you for your ideas and efforts. With your help, the future of DMA can continue to be in the forefront for education of the arts.

Many exciting things are happening for DMA, we are getting closer to the launch of our new website. Which will have many new features along with some of the great information pages you have seen in the past. New Orleans is the site of our 2017 National Convention along with our Jazz Intensive. Don’t forget about Student Honors Intensive Program (in two exciting locations) and Teachers Training School, which will start with the new Phase 5 level this year to offer even more continuing education to our TTS graduates. Do encourage all members and students to attend as many of these wonderful DMA events as possible.

Your National Area Directors will be in touch with your Chapter’s Delegate, these two people will be your direct link between the National Organization and the Affiliated Chapters and will be there to assist you. They and I are here to help you with any of your Chapter’s needs, do not hesitate to contact them or any one of us on the Advisory Committee. Again, I thank you for the privilege of serving Dance Masters of America, and you.  I wish you a most successful year of dance and many blessings.

Sincerely,

Laura Work
